Acetaminophen (a-sete-a-min-o-fen), the drug found in Tylenol and more than 200 other over-the-counter and prescription drugs, is the number one cause of drug-induced liver failure in the United States. Although its pain-relieving and fever-reducing properties have helped millions without incident, acetaminophen use can lead to severe liver damage and even death.
The potential for liver failure may be greatly increased when the use of drugs containing acetaminophen is combined with alcohol, or taken during periods of fasting (due to illness, anorexia, or malnutrition). Fasting decreases levels of glutathione, an antioxidant that helps the liver detoxify acetaminophen. We believe consumers have not been adequately warned of these potential dangers.
If you or a loved one sufferered liver failure and death due to Acetaminophen overuse, you may be entitled to compensation. Complete the form below or call our legal intake center at (800) 820-4340 to receive your FREE case evaluation.
